Doin’ the Jive – Solo Jazz Routine Learn one of swing dance’s most joyful solo routines. Doin’ the Jive is danced to the upbeat 1937 recording by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra, and has been reinterpreted by many modern swing bands, including the Zoot Suit Revue and the Flat Foot Floozies. This class breaks down the routine phrase by phrase, building solid rhythm, timing, and confidence. We explore how movements like Suzie Qs, Shorty Georges, and Charleston variations connect to Harlem jazz vocabulary, and how to add your own groove and personality.
No partner required! Bring comfortable shoes, a sense of play, and a readiness to move. This class is suitable for newer dancers and experienced Lindy Hoppers who want to develop stronger solo skills.
Teachers: Tobias and Julie-Anne!
