Jukin Blues: Have you ever been in the situation where you’ve been Swing dancing for an entire evening or day even and you just want to have some chill dancing time. Feel the music and really just relax? This is the blues dancing class for you. Catherine and Dylan are excited to share the joy of Jukin blues dancing. Totally new to dancing? That’s okay! This class is totally beginner friendly. With Jukin Blues it’s all about the hips. Come on out and fall in love with this style.
Ballroom Blues: So, Ballroom Blues tends to be a bit more flashy and creative type of Blues Dancing. It’s a blues dance that uses lots of the floor and tends to be more active than chill. Very doable if you’re new and also very transferable to other forms of Swing and blues dancing. Connie and Antoine will be leading the charge on this one! You’re in good hands with these two. Just watch them dance sometime and you’ll see for yourself!
Tango’d Up in Blues: Jeff and Amy will be teaching this class together and LOVE this kinda stuff!! This class will focus on interlacing the relaxed, expressive nature of Blues with the dramatic attitude and precision of Tango. It will build off a common foundation of connection between partners to take Tango inspired movements and incorporate them into the essence of Blues dancing. This fusion can open new opportunities, figures, emphasis, and expression into your dancing. It is a wonderful opportunity to let another dance inspire, expand, and blend your dancing expressions to create a unique experience between you and your partner.
Micro Blues: Micro blues is the essence of blues music and dancing. How it can feel inside your soul. To share this experience with a friend or someone new is something that is hard to describe but ones you feel it, you’ll know it. How little can you make your movements. Can you be so in sync with one another that you can lead a breath? Can you follow a breath? Don’t know what that means? Come and see for yourself. This one will be taught by Jeff and Amy.
Contiguity Zen Blues: Contiguity is “the state of being in contact with something” and Zen is “a state of calm in which actions are guided by intuition and not conscious effort”. Contact with your partner starts the dance but where can that go? Ready to blur the lines between leading and following to experience spontaneous expression. Ever get lost in a dance to let fluidity of mutual motion guide a shared expression between you and your partner. Decisions are spontaneous and responsive to one another through your connection. Learn to recognize and differentiate subtle impulses in movement choices by you and your partner. This class will challenge you to let two become one, find a place of shared expression and let instinct be your guide. Sarah Hallman is trained in Ballet and Jeff has been teaching and dancing Blues for over 20 years so you know this class is going to be amazing!!
