Ann Sychterz Balboa Workshop

HOW TO REGISTER: We often have online registration and payment available. If so you should see a registration button at the bottom of this page. If online registration isn't available (or has closed), you can still join us; just register and pay in person at the door!

For class series, online registration closes the day of the first class, however we can usually still take new students at the second class, in person. Generally we can't accept new students after the second class, as it's too difficult to catch up.

About the workshop:
Balboa is a swing dance, often characterized by faster jazz music and quick steps, originating in the ballrooms of California in the 1920’s and 1930’s. This workshop on balboa is to learn the fundamentals and some fun variations of movement while in closed (pure balboa) and open (bal-swing). Although no previous experience in necessary for this course, dancers knowing the first steps will have opportunities to improve their technique and develop their vocabulary. Shoes that can at least slide a bit are recommended. Focus of this workshop is sharing a comfy and funny dance with your partner.
