3rd Annual Fusion Stew!

This will be the 3rd annual Stew Hepcat Swing has hosted! This year, the focus is on fusing different forms of swing dancing, teaching unique variations, and being able to blend different forms of dancing. The first 40 people to register for the full stew will get a Swing Out pin!

Registration: 9:15-9:30 am

Class 1 – East Coast/Lindy Hop: 9:30-10:40 am

Do you ever find yourself trying to do swing outs to music that is just too fast? Step into our fusion office. Let’s throw in some East Coast moves, take a break from those triple steps, mix it together and you’ve got some brand new style options for your social dancing. *Comfort and knowledge of 8-count swing outs are required. Teachers are Catherine and Dylan!

Class 2 – Charleston/Lindy Hop: 10:50-12:00 pm

Do you get tired when dancing to music that’s really bopping along? Do you need a break from endless swing outs? Throw some Charleston in there and see what happens! Join us for our fusion class as we talk about (and practice) transitioning between styles to enhance variety and musicality.*Comfort and knowledge of 8-count swing outs are required. Teachers are Tori and Dylan!

Lunch – Pizza & Drink ($10.00 extra cost): 12:00-1:30 pm

Class 3 – Blues/Jazz: 1:30-2:40 pm

This workshop digs into the soulful overlap of jazz and blues, exploring how their structures shape the way we move. We’ll contrast the bounce of jazz—that lifted, syncopated rhythm that drives swing—with the deeper pulse of blues, where grounded weight and stretch carry the groove. Open to all levels. Teachers are Tobias and Amy!

Class 4 – Bal/Ballet: 2:50-4:00 pm

Ever wondered what it would be like to fuse 2 dances known for finesse and precision – balboa and ballet? In this fusion class, we’ll add the elegant flair of ballet to the compact, rhythmic world of Balboa—focusing on intricate footwork. Petit variations like beats, rond de jambe,  and détourné will be layered into the quick, grounded pulse of Balboa’s shuffles and slides, elevating your styling without losing the form. Some knowledge of balboa is helpful but not needed. Teachers are Jeff and Sarah!

Class 5 – Tango/Blues: 4:10-5:20 pm

Has your Blues dancing gotten a little stale? Have you just gotten back from a trip to South America and are missing that Latin beat? Come on out to our fusion class mixing Tango and Blues so you can dance until the wee hours of the morning! Teachers are Jeff and Amy!

Dinner Break: 5:30-7:30 pm

Dance (at the Legion): 7:30-10:00 pm
