VALENTINES DAY SPEED DANCE Sun 14th Feb 2010 Poplar Lane Free! This free event will be appropriate for couples or singles! Spend an afternoon giving various dance styles a taster (naturally swing is included) and then put your new skills to good use as a Frank Sinatra-type crooner provides some live music for us. The event will also include some demonstrations by local dance professionals. Farmers market from 9.30am-1.30pm, speed dancing from 2.15-5pm, dance performances 3.30-4pm. Join us for a free beginners lesson at 8.30pm, then put on your gladrags to swing out to the fantabulous Sideline Swing big band! The Hepcat Swing demo troupe will also be unveiling some of their newest (and old-time favourite) performances during the band breaks. Break out your vintage threads and tell all your friends because it's sure to be a swing-tastic evening! -------------------------------------------------------------------- UPCOMING NZ EVENTS ART DECO SWINGS 18th-21st Feb 2010 Napier This was a FANTASTIC weekend last year... set in an Art Deco town, the entire weekend sees the clocks turned back in a celebration of the swing era. This year Hepcat Swing, Jitterbugs & Full Swing will again be combining to bring you a dancer friendly exchange that includes accommodation with other dancers in a beautiful Art Deco hotel, a few swing lessons, and the opportunity to be a part of a wonderful weekend of live music and dancing.
